About Colby

Colby is a forty-something fellow with diverse interests including (in no particular order):
- rock climbing (started before it was the thing to do)
- SCUBA diving
- aviation (though not a pilot, yet)
- board games
- computers and computer programming (especially PHP)
- travel
- R/C helicopters
- Revolution stunt kites
Things I’ve enjoyed but don’t have the time or money to keep up with:
- sky diving
- hang gliding
- windsurfing
- boating (both sail boats and powered boats)
- snow skiing
- mountaineering
- Personal best 17,300 feet on Orizaba (some day I hope to go back and summit – anyone?)
- Achieved the summit on several fourteeners in the 48 states including:
- Mt. Whitney, California, high point in the 48 states
- assistant guide for one day out and back 22 mile hike with an elevation gain of over 6,100 feet
- Mt. Massive, Colorado (elevation 14,421)
- Mt. Harvard, Colorado (elevation 14,420)
- Mt. Blanca, Colorado (elevation 14,345)
- Mt. Whitney, California, high point in the 48 states
- Personal best 17,300 feet on Orizaba (some day I hope to go back and summit – anyone?)

Things I’d love to try but don’t have the time or money for right now:
- becoming a wingsuit flier
- becoming a rotary (helicopter) or fixed wing (airplane) pilot
Things I’d like to see:
- A US President that is actually “of the people and for the people”
Things I disdain:
- TV commercials, billboards, pop up ads, banner ads, and those stupid cards that make your magazine open to the wrong page
- the attitude that the government owes a person something
- the decades old marketing trend making consumers “subscribe” for anything they want to buy (recurring fees)
- cruddy cell phone reception – what is the point in having one if it doesn’t work?
